Farming Simulator 25, the latest release from GIANTS Software, invites players to step into the boots of a modern farmer. With its impressive visuals, an expanded roster of features, and improved gameplay mechanics, this installment builds upon its predecessors to offer a comprehensive farming simulation. This review explores every facet of the game, from the new crops and animals to the upgraded mechanics and immersive environments, providing a deeper understanding of what makes Farming Simulator 25 a standout title.
A Visual and Technical Leap Forward
One of the first things players will notice in Farming Simulator 25 is the visual fidelity. Powered by the GIANTS Engine 10, the game delivers stunning graphics, with dynamic weather effects, realistic lighting, and detailed textures. Fields transform with the seasons, offering vibrant greens in spring and golden hues in autumn. The enhanced physics engine adds another layer of realism, with deformable terrain that reacts to machinery and weather conditions.
Dynamic Weather System
Weather conditions in Farming Simulator 25 aren’t just for show—they actively impact gameplay. Rain, snow, and extreme heat can affect crop growth, machinery efficiency, and livestock health. Players must adapt their strategies based on these environmental factors, adding an extra layer of challenge and immersion.
Realistic Lighting and Shadows
The lighting system brings fields, machinery, and landscapes to life. Morning fog, midday sun, and evening shadows shift dynamically, creating a visually stunning and atmospheric experience.
The sound design is equally immersive. From the gentle hum of machinery to the rustle of crops in the wind, every audio detail contributes to the authentic farming experience, making players feel like they are truly on the farm.
Expanded Crops and Livestock
New Crops
Farming Simulator 25 introduces four new crops: rice (two varieties), spinach, peas, and green beans. These additions expand the total number of cultivatable crops to over 20.
Rice: Growing rice requires water-filled paddies, specialized equipment, and precise timing. This crop introduces a unique farming mechanic, particularly in the East Asian map, where terraced fields dominate the landscape.
Spinach: A fast-growing crop that can be harvested multiple times in a season, offering steady profits for small-scale farmers.
Peas and Green Beans: These legumes are versatile and nutrient-rich, suitable for diverse soil types and climates, and add variety to crop rotations.
New Animals
For animal enthusiasts, the game now includes water buffalo and goats alongside the traditional roster of cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, and horses. Each animal has unique requirements and benefits:
Water Buffalo: Ideal for milk production in wet environments, water buffalo are a challenging yet rewarding addition.
Goats: Known for their adaptability and smaller space requirements, goats produce milk and are relatively easy to care for, making them perfect for beginners.
Caring for animals involves feeding, breeding, and managing health. Players must also consider profitability, as the market prices for animal products fluctuate based on demand.
Immersive New Environments
Farming Simulator 25 features three new maps, each offering distinct challenges and opportunities:
East Asian Region: This map is perfect for cultivating rice, featuring terraced fields, traditional architecture, and a unique irrigation system that players must manage carefully.
North American Plains: Known for its vast open fields, this map caters to large-scale operations with high-tech machinery and is ideal for growing cereals and grains.
Central European Countryside: Rolling hills, picturesque villages, and dense forests make this map ideal for mixed farming, forestry, and smaller-scale operations.
Each environment is meticulously crafted, offering players a sense of place and purpose. The inclusion of localized flora, fauna, and architectural styles further enhances the realism.
Gameplay Enhancements
Advanced AI and GPS System
The AI assistance in Farming Simulator 25 has been significantly upgraded. The new GPS system allows players to automate specific tasks, such as plowing or sowing, with unparalleled accuracy. This feature not only saves time but also ensures that every inch of your fields is utilized efficiently.
Precision Farming: The GPS system supports precision farming, enabling players to optimize fertilizer usage, reduce waste, and improve crop yields.
Task Scheduling: Players can now assign multiple tasks to AI workers, who will execute them in a logical sequence, freeing up time for more complex operations.
Realistic Economic System
The game’s economic system now mirrors real-world market trends. Prices for crops, livestock, and machinery fluctuate based on demand, weather conditions, and other factors. Strategic planning is essential to maximize profits. Players must also manage expenses such as maintenance, fuel, and seasonal labor.
Seasonal Cycles
Seasonal gameplay is more detailed than ever, with specific planting and harvesting windows for each crop. Players must plan their activities carefully to avoid missing critical deadlines. The introduction of crop rotation bonuses encourages diversification and long-term planning.
Machinery and Equipment
Expansive Inventory
With over 400 authentic machines and tools from 150+ real-world brands, Farming Simulator 25 offers unmatched variety. From tractors to combine harvesters, every piece of equipment is rendered with incredible attention to detail.
Customization Options
Players can now customize machinery with upgrades and modifications. Adjust tires, add attachments, and even select color schemes to suit your preferences and needs. The game also allows for leasing equipment, providing flexibility for players who may not want to invest in expensive machinery outright.
Forestry Tools
Forestry plays a significant role in Farming Simulator 25, with new tools and vehicles designed for logging, wood chipping, and reforestation. This addition makes forestry a viable alternative to traditional farming.
Multiplayer and Mods
Co-Op Gameplay
Multiplayer mode allows up to 16 players to collaborate on farming operations. Whether it’s managing livestock, harvesting crops, or running logistics, teamwork adds a new dimension to the gameplay.
Community Mods
The Farming Simulator community has always been a cornerstone of the franchise. With robust modding tools, players can create and share custom maps, machinery, and gameplay tweaks, ensuring endless replayability.
Challenges and Replayability
Farming Simulator 25 introduces seasonal challenges that test players’ adaptability. From unexpected weather conditions to pest infestations, these challenges keep the gameplay engaging and unpredictable.
Additionally, the inclusion of achievements and leaderboards encourages players to optimize their strategies and compete with others globally. Special events and time-limited scenarios add further layers of replayability.

this game is not zen. its developed by a lazy lot, game doesnt function properly, ai does its own thing. thank god its then modded by professionals who know more than giants
So frustrating... I loved FS22 and was really hoping that FS25 would have some of the bugs ironed out. Not only has it not been optimized/ironed out, its become unplayable. Controller button mappings randomly corrupted with no fix to date, terrain textures are finicky with the use of salt to clear snow. The snow itself is stuck on the map year-round. Unfortunatly I am done with the FS franchise.
personally i have never had any problems with farming simulator and have been playing it since f s18 on my tablet where i racked up roughly 1200 hours, then on my xbox where i racked up roughly 4000 hours on fs 22 before putting up another 200 hours on fs 25 before i got my pc, i would recommend the game to anyone especially if you like ats/ets, consim, and any other games alike
the game keeps freezing it wont load all the way even when your graphics card is way more then it calls for it keeps crashing for no reason i s say fix the fuken problem or give me back my money
So i was always on the fence about the FS simulator series.I'm VERY glad i dived in on a recommendation from a friend. It's a very satisfying game that feels rewarding and progress feels well paced. If you're on the fence, try it. you'll love it.
This game is so fun... and SO FRUSTRATING. Its a great game, it really is. Its fun, its challenging, its INCREDIBLY time consuming. All the things you want from a simulation game. However, when I work for 20 hours towards a goal, I expect to get what I'm working towards. To be clear, I DO NOT recommend this game. The current state of the game, at the time of writing this, is about 50% complete. Most things don't work as intended. And by most, I mean MOST. It looks great, it really does, and it seems as though most of the attention to detail has been placed in making the game look great for trailers and videos rather than functioning as intended. As a man that grew up on a dairy farm and knowing how things work, its incredibly frustrating to not be able to use manure as a fertilizer (manure only stores until you reload the game, then it bugs out and wont accumulate). So, as of right now, with all the bugs, I can NOT recommend this game. I love the game, I love the idea, I love the fact that they're making this game. However, I really wish they would have put more time into making the game function and less time into making it look good. Yes, it looks good for videos and trailers but it doesn't work the way we all wish it did. AI doesn't register fields (I know AI is hard, its a really difficult process, especially when you alter already established fields) cows are super hard to maintain (they added meadows that can be customized to add more animals but haven't added to the barns the amount of food that can be stored, so your cows starve including those with feeder robots), manure doesn't register after you close the game and reload it, you can add as much straw as you like but the bunker won't fill with the manure, Cows productivity just drops to 0% for no reason at all (they have literally everything they could ever ask for). GPS is an incredible addition to the game unless you alter a field and then it just doesn't work anymore. The AI cant register what's happening and gets snagged up on random things around your farm. The idea is great, implementation is horrible.I know this is a long review and I never review anything. This review however, I honestly hope the developers see so they can make some improvements.I have a few more things to add. If you intend to get this game, DON'T do anything with cows. period. I know they just added water buffalo to the game, its more frustration than its worth. Stick with chickens, goats, and sheep. They work perfectly. I've spent 100 hours trying to make water buffalo work and it has been unsuccessful, I end up with about 300l of milk per month for 200+ water buffalo, its been a very expensive, unsuccessful grind that has left me frustrated, irritated, and at times, straight up angry. It makes no sense, the things that don't work are common sense. It honestly feels as though the devs haven't played their own game or have any knowledge of farming in general. I hope they see this post and get together, visit a farm, and do some research.Currently, at the time of writing this really pissed off review, I give them a 3/10. If they got together and decided that visuals aren't nearly as important as actual gameplay and fixed all their incredibly moronic bugs, they'd get a much higher score.Buyer be ware, this game will have you wanting to punch your screen. Unfortunately, you wont realize that until you've put way too many hours into the game to be eligible for a refund.EDIT: This is my first and last farming "simulator" game that I'll ever buy. This experience has been so off putting that I don't ever want to experience this entire genre of games again. Again, as a man that has actually farmed in Wisconsin, this game is so disrespectful to actual farmers, I'm just dumbfounded that this is something that exists as a farming "simulator"...simulation is the last thing I think of when playing this game..
Very good simulator, the best farming simulator ever released. This edition features many new things. If your into Farming or just simulators in general this game a must buy. Very addicting, can spend hundreds of hours playing this amazing game. Very Highly recommended !!!
How much do you have to disrespect the users?
Probably this game has no competitors in the category ‘The game with the most bugs’.
- Problems with the landscape (you can not build on a flat place: there is a flat landscape ~10mx10m but in the middle of some invisible point that does not let you build a building. Or a branch from a tree fell under the texture and now you can't put anything there).
- You can buy a tractor without front wheels (and reprodus 100% of all users on the server).
- Frequent collisions in the management of equipment
- You can simply be thrown out of the game and your progress for the last 3-5 hours of game time will be lost!!!!!.
- Some mechanics with the order of processing fields do not work sometimes.
- I'm not talking about ‘not very smart’ AI for autopilot control on the field and on the road and other bugs that are present in the game.
The most interesting thing is that by fixing some bugs they create others)How much do you have to disrespect users to release such a thing and position yourself as a triple A game.Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
great game. This would be my all time favorite so far. With incredible graphics and a wide selection of crops and implements. FS25 allows you not just to play at being a farmer, but really feel like you are a farmer. From selectying crops to sow, animals to raise and production lines to follow. FS25 has something for anyone interested in farming. I would reccomend FS25 Highly
1/5th of the reviews are negative. the controls on a controller are garbage. trying to figure out what the devs have done is infuriating. what a waste of time and money.
To summarize the game for you:
its a really bad copy/paste of Farming Simulator 22. Save yourself some money and just buy FS22 and use modsif giants reads this i feel like you scammed me and should give me money back
Last I played was Farming Simulator 17, and it has come A LONG WAY since then. There are some minor annoyances, in my opinion, the top two:
- equipment condition lowers at an EXTREMELY fast rate
- bales and pallets are a pain in generalI have found mods which have resolved these, and make the game excellent:
- Damage Control
- Liftable Pallets and Bales
- Bale AutoloadOverall, even without the QoL mods, 9/10 from me
Poorly optimized. Graphics are still quite poor by 2024 standards. Controls are still wonky and clunky. They managed to make the menus even worse than in FS22.All you're getting is FS22 reskinned with a little shinier make up. Still the same fat, slow pig underneath. Enjoy!
Despite a few minor bugs, Farming Simulator 25 is incredibly fun and relaxing to play. The attention to detail is impressive, and it’s clear that Giants Software is committed to improving the experience by addressing issues and making the game even more enjoyable.
